Fat Burning Supplements – Do They “Work”?

by John Barban

Walk into any health food shop and you’ll find an entire section of “fat burners” and weight loss supplements.

It’s clear that these products sell, but do they “work”?

The answer to this question is a bit more complicated than a simple yes/no. You’ve got to take into account the claims on the supplement, the research that supports those claims, the researchers that did the work, what the government regulators have to say about it, what the insurance companies will insure, and where the research dollars come from that support the fat burning claims being made.

Fat burners and weight loss supplements are big business.

I’m talking billions of dollars big.

Whenever there is this kind of money on the line the answers are never simple.

In this podcast I try to give you a good look at the ‘fat burners’ side of the supplement industry and which fat burners (if any) are worth taking.

Amen guys!

I always thought that it’s funny that there are billions of people on this planet who can maintain a healthy weight but the weight loss industry is trying to convince us that we need this one special ingredient to lose weight. Obviously it’s not that essential if most of the people on the planet can be healthy without this stuff.

Great info yet again fellas! Had no idea just how vast the marketing machine is and what lengths they will goto to get at our hard-earned money! I gotta admit I get a little chuckle when I see these guys on bodybuilding forums scrambling to try out “the next greatest super-pump-fat-loss-make you look like a god in two days” super supplement…probably cuz I used to be one of ‘em lol!

Hi John thanks again for this podcast.
I was thinkin about the fancy multivitamins and their ´´new vitamin technologies´´, that contains 500% and 1000% of the ´´dayly dose recommended´´.

John, what is your personal opinion about.. let´s call it ´´Jungle Pak´´ or ´´Animal zoo´´ product(haha you guys know what I´m talking about) these kind of supermultivitamin with tons of ´´all´´.

Is it a good idea to take it? I s it worth to spend money in this kind of fancy vitamin supplements?
Or it would be ok just to take a commercial and average (cheap but effective)´´walmart´´basic multivitamin from the supermarket.
Thanks man, and sorry for my english I keep improving.

Hey, I remember reading something about Linoleic acid in a supplement review and that it helps reduce fat and increase muscle (that’s what I wrote down on a post it). Any experience with it?

John Barban

Pat,

None of these items can do much for helping with fat burning unless they somehow get you to eat less food.

So if one were interested in getting some Ephedrine??….

John Barban

what do you think it will do?

Andrew

Well, I listened to the podcast and I follow the program, and right now im in the middle of a cutdown, but really all im looking for is a good energy product because the red bulls just don’t do it for me anymore, and I tried the yohimbe and it made me feel awful, I’m also interested to see how well it works as a workout aid?

John Barban

Andrew,

I’ve had similar experiences with yohimbine…didn’t like it at all…felt all eff’d up.

The only workout stimulant I consume is caffeine (but in the form of my daily coffee)

Ephedrine is the smoothest and most consistent energy rush I’ve ever found…the only trick is that it’s easy to get
accustomed to it and become dependent on it. So I would suggest using it only when you really need it to get through a tough workout or a long day when you’re bagged and have no energy.

I had a buddy who took ephedrine so often that he needed 75mgs just to get through a day without falling asleep,
and he didn’t even workout…he just took the stuff so often that he needed that much to just get through a day.

I know this is an extreme example, but the point is that ephedrine can be rather addictive. I wouldn’t say it is
psychologically addictive, but you can easily fall into the trap of needing more and more of it every day just
to get by.

So my take home message is that it definitely gives a good energy surge, but use it sparingly and with caution.

Andrew

JB,

That’s exactly what I was looking for, thing is, being on the program and being a full time college student and working at the same time isn’t doing well for my energy levels, and when I actually have the time to work out I just don’t have the energy to. But yeah like I said I’m in the middle of a bigtime cutdown and my nutrition is totally in line, right now im maxing my caloric intake at around 800 cals a day, college is actually making that easier, especially when I fast. Who knew being busy all day would keep you from eating? ;-) Anyway, I was looking around for it last night and I think I found a good site to order from, but they have this map that shows states in which ephedrine is still illegal in and Ohio is one of them so it’s all a moot point I guess. Thanks for all your help though, I really appreciate it!

Do you have to employ a Mastercard to place the order?

The Lady Soma Detox is great. The appetite suppressants really work. I didn’t experience any side effects. Taking the pills are really worth it. I lost 6 pounds in those 7 days I was on this program. And I kept it off. It’s been about two months since I took this product and I am continuing to lose weight. The Lady Soma Detox a great way to jump start a new healthy regimen. Despite that I lost weight fast and cleaned out my system. I noticed that my bowl movements were very quick and easy, which made me realize that my colon was completely cleansed. I will definitely use the Lady Soma Detox again!
